ABOUT ME

I am a storyteller. I also like the process of creating the story–working on my own or, better yet, with a team–shaping something that has yet to be fully realized. I’ve worked on stages, on screen, at museums, in classrooms, in boardrooms, and in pizza restaurants. I’ve performed and taught improv and sketch comedy at Second City, UCB, iO, Annoyance and Improv Asylum. I was also a professional sea comedian (not a joke). My two-woman comedy group, Somebody’s in the Doghouse, was twice-voted one of the top five sketch comedy groups in the nation by the Friars Club.

Most recently, I have been writing for children’s television. But don’t take my word for it, let’s hear it from third-person Leah:

Leah Gotcsik is an Emmy, Annie and Canadian Screen Award winning writer/showrunner. She has worked across networks and streamers in CG, 2D, stop-motion and live-action, as Executive Producer of The Tiny Chef Show (Nickelodeon), Co-Producer/Head Writer of SuperKitties (Disney), Head Writer/Story Editor for Bubble Guppies (Nickelodeon), Chico Bon Bon: Monkey with a Toolbelt (Netflix), and Charlie’s Colorforms City (Netflix), and Alma’s Way (PBS). She’s also written on Helpsters (Apple) and Odd Squad (PBS), to name a few. Leah’s developed original and major IP properties for Nickelodeon, Netflix, Amazon, and Mattel/Max, including the recently released Barney’s World (Max). Leah is a 2024 graduate of the WGAE Showrunner Academy and a lifelong member of the “Tries Her Best” Club, as designated by her son.
