When I lived in Chicago, I worked for a short time at Bubbles Academy, this amazing creative arts space for preschoolers and pre-preschoolers (according to my friend Tamara who is the Program Director, that is a word). I am happy (bubbling over with excitment?) to say that I am freelancing for them again editing articles, PR materials, and anything else they throw my way.
I am working on another project with JMH Education. This one is a curriculum package for the Ad Council and the USDA Forest Service. Finding My Forest will be a curriculum focused at tweens with the goal of getting them outside in nature. As a former camp counselor, I am excited to get teachers thinking about how to get kids outside…especially as I sit in black-top heavy NYC.
I am currently working as a freelance writer for JMH Education. My most recent project is a curriculum for the United States Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (USDA/APHIS) about the Asian Longhorned Beetle, an invasive insect that’s killing trees in New York, New Jersey, and Massachusetts. Maybe you’d like to be a Beetle Buster?
I am creating a curriculum guide, four-panel poster, take-home activities and a “family activity pak” to get the word out about the ALB!
